3 Current status of oil spill combating capability
As the equipment provided under the OSPAR Project is limited to oil booms only,the need to increase per capability has prompted Brunei Darussalam to acquiremore equipment. On 21st May 1996, the following equipment were received:-
500m RO-Boom - 0610 River type
Accessories: 5 sets storage reels
5 sets manually driven winder
2 sets power driven air blowers unit
1 unit Oil Recovers Vacuum System (RO-VAC) with accessories
2 units Oil Skimmers (RO-DISC 15)
2 sets Spraying system with accessories to be installed onboard ships
2000 ltrs Dispersant
10 boxes Oil Sorbent
4 sets Portable Storage Tanks (FASTANK) capacity l0cu.m with accessories
2 sets Portable Storage Tanks (FASTANK) capacity 7.Scu.m with accessories
2 units VHF Marine Transceiver
5 units VHF Hand-held radio
Protective clothings and gears
Together with the OSPAR equipment, the above equipment had been tested and kept in the high state of readiness.
4 FuturePlan
The Marine Department is planning to acquire additional equipment such as heavy-duty skimmers (disc and mop), transfer pumps, beach booms and forklifts.
